Biography
Michael Boyman is a New York and Chicago-based composer of orchestral and chamber music. His music is melodic, rhythmically propulsive, and always strives for expressive and formal clarity. A recipient of the BMI William Schuman Award, Michael has worked with the Minnesota Orchestra, the American Composers Orchestra, and has an ongoing collaboration with The Chelsea Symphony. His music is published by the Theodore Presser Company.
An alumnus of the New York Youth Symphony, Michael served as principal violist of the orchestra and was a member of Making Score, the organization's composition program. Michael is a graduate of New York University, where he studied political science and music composition, studying privately with Justin Dello Joio. He received his Master's Degree in Composition from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied privately with Richard Danielpour. Michael currently works at the University of Chicago.
